The rally of the right-leaning forum, announced for Ljubljana's Kongresni square between 11 AM and 12:30 PM, is expected to be addressed by PM Janez Janša.

Other speakers include the Assembly head Lovro Šturm, Defence Minister and coalition New Slovenia (NSi) vice-president Aleš Hojs, Interior Ministry state secretary Barbara Brezigar and former Parliament Speaker France Cukjati.

The organisers, who have announced an extensive cultural programme, have said the goal of the rally is to present to the public the situation in the country and the measures that are necessary.

Attendance has also been confirmed by a number of senior members of the ruling Democrats (SDS), including by Defence Minister Vinko Gorenak, and MEPs Romana Jordan and Milan Zver. The SDS says it is not the organiser of the rally.

Meanwhile, the third protest against political elites is announced for 3 PM on the same location. The crowd - between 8,000 and 10,000 gathered at the last protest on 11 January - is also expected to March around the city and make a final stop in front of parliament building.

The rally will be accompanied by an initiative dubbed "protestival", which is to include a carnival procession and musical performances by a number of popular acts, such as Jani Kovačič, Iztok Mlakar, N'toko etc.

After clashes at some of the protests held around the country at the end of last year, police have assessed the risk level for today's rallies as medium.
