Final Round of Talks on Labour Reform

The government, employers and trade unions will use the final negotiating session to check which points of the reform have been coordinated and which still need to be closed.

A final effort to find compromises on open issues is therefore expected at Monday's session, which has not been time-limited.

Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs Andrej Vizjak has indicated that around ten points are still open in the new labour relations bill, the bigger of the two bills dealing with the labour market.

One of the key issues for the trade unions is the relationship between severance and notice periods and unemployment benefits.

Meanwhile, employers still want to debate severance pay for workers on fixed-term contracts and are hoping to raise the proposed 25% limit on employment of agency workers.
