Prepared by the Goethe-Institut in Ljubljana, the exhibition - partly in German and partly in Slovenian - includes documents and photos owned by the Müller family and showcases TV interviews with the author.

Herta Müller was born in 1953 in a German-minority village Nitzkydorf in Romania and studied German and Romanian languages in Timisoara.

She was fired as a translator from a factory for refusing to cooperate with the Romanian secret police, and later her books were banned in Romania and she was banished from her home country. She emigrated to Germany with her husband in 1987 and now lives in Berlin.

Apart from the Nobel Prize, she has won several distinguished accolades, including the Kleist and Aristeion prizes, the Berliner Literaturpreis and the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.

Müller, who has four novels and a book of essays translated into Slovenian, was last guest in Ljubljana in 2012 as part of the Fabula literary festival when the city was World Book Capital.

Prior to that, the writer visited the Slovenian capital twice, in the early 1990s and as part of the international Vilenica literary festival in 2002.
