The ministry said that such actions were a threat to peace, security and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the broader region.

It called on North Korea to stop its nuclear weapons programme and return to the negotiating table, adding that it supports efforts invested in denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.

"This can only be achieved in a peaceful diplomatic way, in cooperation with the international community and with respect for international obligations and UN Security Council resolutions," the ministry said.
