President Meeting Parliamentary Party Leaders
The president's office said on Monday that the meeting will seek agreement on ways to change the referendum system, the ratification of Croatia's EU Accession Treaty and the planned labour market reform.
All parliamentary party leaders have confirmed their attendance, including PM Janša. The meeting comes amidst efforts in the opposition to file a no-confidence vote against the Janša government.
However, the opposition Positive Slovenia (PS) is the only party expecting an agreement on how Slovenia could elect a better government.
Gregor Virant, the head of Citizens' List (DL), which has left the coalition, said that his main position will be that Slovenia needed a credible government as soon as possible. Meanwhile, junior coalition New Slovenia (NSi) expects a constructive discussion.
Head of opposition Social Democrats (SD) Igor Lukšič believes the meeting will address only issues on which political consensus has already been reached.
The Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) president, Karl Erjavec, does not believe the meeting will discuss the resolving of Slovenia's political situation and People's Party (SLS) head Radovan Žerjav also does not expect anything beyond the agenda of the meeting.
