The display features a selection of Burroughs's work created in various media: from sound cut-ups to visual collages and shotgun paintings to rare books, films, photographs and other.

His oeuvre has influenced wide fields of pop culture, art, music, and techniques of digital sampling. Much of his work has only been exhibited a few times.

The exhibition was set up by Colin Fallows, a professor of sound and visual arts at Liverpool John Moores University and Synne Genzmer of Kunsthalle Wien.

MGLC said in a press release that Burroughs's work is hard to define because he offers a variety of ways to read and interpret his vast oeuvre.

The exhibition places special focus on collage and cutup techniques, which form a significant part of Burroughs's language and his artistic heritage. The show will run until 7 April.

His most famous work is "The Naked Lunch" (1959), a novel comprised of vignettes that can be read in any order. The book has been translated to Slovenian, as has been his first novel "Junkie" (1953) and "The Name is Burroughs".
