The purpose of the visit of the minister, who is accompanied by a small business delegation, is the continuation of talks Janša started upon his official visit to Azerbaijan in mid-January, the office said.

The two officials welcomed today the closing of international and commercial agreements between business entities, which "strengthens the legal and administrative basis for future cooperation on the political and economic levels".

Janša labelled as "extremely positive" the setting up of a mixed intergovernmental economic commission, which he and his Azerbaijani counterpart Artur Rasizade agreed on in Baku. The commission is to meet for the first time this autumn in Slovenia and endorse a plan on concrete forms of cooperation and joint projects.

Janša and Heydaro also talked about the unused potential for cooperation between their countries, with the Azerbaijani minister highlighting the opportunities in tourism, financial investment, and food and processing industry.

The Slovenian prime minister presented to his guest all the key measures that the government passed in the past year to stabilize the economic situation and boost competitiveness. He also welcomed Azerbaijan's rapid progress in economic area and its efforts to join the Euro Atlantic integrations.
