Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were also EUR 400,000 above plans, at EUR 7.6m, revaluation of the company's real estate excluded.

Gross income of the group was down 2% compared to the year before, standing at EUR 114.8m. Operating profit - real estate revaluation excluded - amounted to EUR 2.1m.

The core company generated EUR 103.3m in net revenues, while gross operating income was at EUR 106.6m. Net operating profit - real estate revaluation excluded - stood at EUR 2.3m.

According to the unaudited results that were labelled satisfactory by the company's management, the core company's net profit was just shy of EUR 750,000. Žito chairman Janez Bojc meanwhile noted that "consumers are becoming increasingly price-conscious".
