Primorsko University Marking 10th Anniversary

Nekategorizirano

The youngest of three Slovenian public universities was established with a decree by parliament on 29 January 2003, and officially registered exactly ten years ago. Ex-Education Minister Lucija Čok, one of the most vocal advocates of the new university, became its first chancellor.

Today, the university consists of seven faculties, the Science and Research Centre, the Andrej Marušič Institute, a university library and student's homes. It offers over 70 courses frequented by more than 6,700 students, and, with over 700 staff, is one of the biggest employers on the Slovenian coast.

The highlight of some 30 events organised to mark the jubilee will be a special ceremony on Friday when the university gives out its recognitions, including bestowing an honorary doctorate on law expert Boštjan M. Zupančič, who will then deliver his inaugural lecture next Monday.

The university will also sign an agreement to become an associate member of the local orthopedic clinic Valdoltra.
