Air Traffic Control Gets New Offices in Brnik
The head of the Air Traffic Control, Franc Željko Županič, told a press conference in Brnik on Tuesday that the reasons for the move were two.
One is that the offices in the Ljubljana city centre, where they operated from for the last 20 years, no longer provided the necessary capacities for quality work considering the expected increase in air traffic, and the other is that they were not functional enough.
Outgoing Infrastructure and Spatial Planning Minister Zvonko Černač, who attended today's inauguration of the new premises, said he was happy that the project had been successfully concluded.
He highlighted that the work had been done within the planned financial framework, which was not always the case with such investments.
Žiga Ogrizek, who has been in charge of the operative move of the Air Traffic Control, said that the move had been carried out gradually, but that most air traffic controllers had moved in the night from 12 to 13 March.
Now, only controllers who are on stand-by are still working in Ljubljana and those too will move to Brnik on Wednesday evening, he said.
