Slovenia, which does not have an embassy in Mexico, but provides diplomatic coverage from the US, previously opened a honorary consulate in the capital, Ciudad de Mexico.

In recent years, Slovenia has undertaken restructuring of its diplomatic network in a bid to strengthen ties with rapidly developing economies such as that of Brazil, Turkey and Mexico.
