Dijsselbloem: Slovenia to Present Govt Priorities in May
Dijsselbloem said that the recently appointed Čufer was merely welcomed warmly today and called by him to present the priorities of the new Slovenian government at the Eurogroup's next meeting in May. This was all that was said about Slovenia, he added.
It is not clear at this point whether the Slovenian minister will only present the priorities or whether a Eurogroup debate on Slovenia is also planned for next month.
Dijsselbloem confirmed he would meet Čufer this evening, "to hear more" and in order for them to get to know each other. He noted that this was common practice when a eurozone member gets a new minister.
A source in the Eurogroup already said on Wednesday that a debate on Slovenia was not expected today, although it added that Čufer would present the plans of the new government to his colleagues.
A discussion on Slovenia is expected in separate meetings, with the source saying Čufer would meet top officials of the Eurogroup, European Central Bank (ECB), European Stability Mechanism (ESM) and the European Commission.
Meetings are said to be scheduled with Dijsselbloem, president of the EU Economic and Financial Committee Thomas Wieser, member of the ECB executive board Jörg Asmussen, ESM managing director Klaus Regling and European Commissioner Olli Rehn.
