An analysis conducted by the Slovenian Veterinary Institute, the results of which were released last week, also showed the sample of the product taken by the Swedish agency and samples of other meet products tested were compliant with the labelling.

TMI Košaki said the same findings were now made by the other accredited Swedish laboratory ALcontrol AB, whose analysis showed the beef Kulen salami sample did not contain pork DNA.

"TMI Košaki and our customers and business partners have suffered considerable business damages due to inaccurate claims in public, which unfairly undermined trust in our quality, which is unquestionable," company chairman Jure Bojnec is cited as saying in a written statement from Košaki TMI.

The company is expected to reveal steps it plans to take in response at a news conference on Thursday.
