Pahor's first visit to Germany in the capacity of president comes just over a week after his official visit to France.

Both tours to EU capitals are an opportunity for strengthening bilateral relations, discussing the future of the EU and present Slovenia's plans to balance public finances and kick-start economic recovery, Pahor's office said ahead of the visit.

Slovenia and Germany have a long history of close relations, based on bilateral meetings on several levels. Slovenia's key political and economic partner, Germany is one of the biggest foreign investors in Slovenia and accounts for a fifth of Slovenia's exports.
