Swedish Lab to Be Sued Over Halal Salami Blunder

Košaki TMI said the figure corresponds to the financial harm it suffered after a Swedish lab said on 10 April that its halal-designated beef salami contained 10% pork.

Two subsequent tests, in labs in Sweden and Slovenia, rejected the initial findings.

The company's exports "practically ground to a halt" in the past two weeks and it was forced to recall products from all Western European markets after the first lab results, Košaki boss Jure Bojnec told the press.

The lawsuit will be served to the Swedish National Food Agency or its lab, which Bojnec noted was not accredited for such analysis and also committed procedural mistakes.
