According to Faymann, efforts against high youth unemployment will also be the main topic of the forthcoming session of the European Council. He stressed his position was that more would have to be done to reduce youth unemployment, particularly through investing into education.

PM Bratušek meanwhile praised Austria for having "fewer problems than quite a few European members, including Slovenia". She added that her Austrian counterpart presented several concrete experiences in the area.

Bratušek and Faymann said relations between the countries were good, with Bratušek labelling Austria a strategic partner of Slovenia, both in terms of investment and trade.
