Sales of Diners Club Slovenija Entering Final Phase

Creditors and stakeholders of Diners Club Slovenije have given Lovše until today to return to Diners's account several million euros of the total of EUR 22m which they say he spent for his other dealings.

Diners would not reveal though whether Lovše indeed returned the money, because it does not "want to jeopardise the salvaging of the company by revealing sensitive business information".

"Like everybody else I too would like to see the company sold as soon as possible, as this would mean that merchants would be paid and Diners Club cards would be operational again," Lovše told the STA.

"At this point I am actively and constructively involved in negotiations which I expect will bring about a solution for the company in the coming days," he said.

Diners Club Slovenije would not comment on reports that Austrian Erste Bank was interested in purchasing the company, saying that more information relevant for all stakeholders would be released to the public in the coming days.

Banka Slovenije revoked the license for payment service of Diners Club Slovenija, the Slovenian franchise of the American charge card operator, on 17 May in a surprise move that affected 80,000 cardholders in the country as well as foreign cardholders wanting to use their cards in Slovenia.
