President Pahor Very Active on Summit in Bratislava
Zeman enquired about the planned privatisation in Slovenia, while Pahor asked him about the Czech Republic's experience of privatisation, especially of banks, according to Pahor's office.
But the presidents mainly discussed ways to boost cooperation between the countries, possibly within the Visegrad Group, which aside from the Czech Republic also comprises Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
The pair agreed that Slovenia and the Czech Republic had the potential to enhance economic cooperation further. Pahor also invited Zeman to visit Slovenia on an official visit.
Pahor also met Montenegrin President Filip Vujanović, who thanked him for Slovenia's technical assistance in accession negotiations with the EU and NATO.
Pahor presented the initiative of the Brdo Process for closer cooperation in the region, which he would like to revive, and invited Vujanović to cooperate in the initiative.
The Slovenian president also met his Polish opposite number Bronislaw Komorowski in a meeting that highlighted the good relations between the countries and called for an upgrade in cooperation.
The Polish president expressed his concern over a new slow-down in Europe's economy, in particular as it increasingly affects the economic situation in Poland, which has been relatively successful so far.
Pahor also attended a concert and a formal dinner hosted in honour of the 20 presidents attending the summit by Slovakian President Ivan Gašparovič and his spouse.
The summit will continue on Thursday with a working breakfast featuring presidents of countries that are members of the EU and Croatia.
The following plenary will focus on issues related to Europe's post-crisis recovery, initiatives to secure lasting economic growth and measures to avoid potential new crises.
On the sidelines of the summit, Pahor is scheduled to hold a brief meeting with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev.
Apart from Pahor and the host, the 18th Central European Summit is also being attended by the heads of state from Austria, Romania, Montenegro, Estonia, Macedonia, Lithuania, Croatia, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Hungary, Albania, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
