Today's defeat in Ljubljana's Stožice stadium in front of some 5,000 spectators put Slovenia in third place in Group 6 with five points, behind Iceland (8 points) and Belarus (7).

Slovenia, who bagged fourth place at this year World Championship in Spain, have lost both games with Iceland and drew with Belarus in Minsk in the previous rounds of qualifiers.

The national team would have needed a victory today in order to travel to Denmark for the championship between 14 and 26 January 2014.
