This Year's Ana Desetnica to Enliven Streets in Nine Towns
The festival's caravan will not be moving from town to town, as some of the events will take place at the same time, festival manager Goro Osojnik has told the press.
Osojnik understands a good street performance as an event which connects three key elements independent one from the other - the artist, the public and the venue, which makes the festival different in each town.
According to him, the programme is very diverse and introduces new genres.
Belgian Kompanie-Ofwel will stage fire spectacles in Maribor and Ljubljana and Italian pair eVenti will perform a spectacular vertical dance in Nova Gorica, Maribor and Ljubljana.
The highlight of the festival will be Brecht's "Mother Courage", which premiered last year in Maribor as part of the European Capital of Culture project. It will be staged in the street in Maribor, Ljubljana, Nova Gorica, Izola, Kranj and Kamnik.
In Ljubljana, the festival will take place between 3 and 6 July and will move from the centre to the eastern borough of Moste, around the Španski borci arts centre. The programme will include a round table debate on the role of street theatre in mass protests.
