Football: Maribor Lose First Leg of Final Qualifying Round 3-1

The first goal came as early as the eight minute, when Marian Čišovsky took Viktoria Plzen into the lead for the rest of the first half.

In the 58th minute, the home team scored another goal with Vladimir Darida taking them to a 2-0 lead.

Hopes increased for Maribor when Aleš Mejač got the score to 2-1 in the 66th minute but Michal Duriš sealed the victory of the Czech club just before the end of the match with another goal.

Maribor have made it to the fourth and final round of qualification for the Champions League with wins over Malta's Birkirkara (2-0) and Apoel of Nicosia (1-1, won on away goals).

Plzen defeated Željezničar of Bosnia-Herzegovina 6-4 and then demolished Estonian champions Kalja 10-2 to book a playoff place.
