Football: Slovenia Remain in the Running for Rio

Slovenia took the lead early in the match and scored its second goal toward the end of the game, earning a three-point advantage at an event that attracted only 800 spectators.

Both goals were scored by Milivoje Novaković, the first 13 minutes into the match and the second ten minutes before match end.

Cypriots started two nearly successful strikes in the second half. Slovenia's goal keeper Samir Handanović did a good job defending against the first strike in the beginning of the second half, while the second, 51 minutes into the match, went awry for the Cypriots.

The team coached by Srečko Katanec is still to face Norway and Switzerland.
