The maker of rock and glass wool is writing a story of a successful combination of Slovenian knowledge and international capital, of joint values and market orientation, the jury argued its choice.

The company has 50 years of history and was better known in the past under the name Termo, which was the company taken over in 2006 by foreign family firm Knauf.

Knauf Insulation, which is part of the multinational with the same name, almost quadrupled its sales revenue in the past five years, from EUR 26.5m to EUR 102m. Its workforce expanded by 350 to over 410.

Knauf exports more than 80% of its products and boasts an above average EUR 70,000 in value added per employee.

Meanwhile, the Silver Gazelle for this year went to Šentjernej-based developer and maker of electronic modules and electromechanical components L-Tek Elektronika, and the Bronze Gazelle to heat pumps and cooling systems maker Termo-tehnika from Braslovče.

A comparison of the 100 fastest growing companies has shown that between 2007 and 2012 revenues grew most in central Slovenia. While companies there created the most jobs, 3,426, they at the same time lost the most, 17,669.
