The couple Albin and Tatjana Doberšek, whose company Engineering Dobersek specializes in construction of energy, mining, water-management and environmental facilities, climbed to second spot from fourth to come ahead of Joc Pečečnik of gaming supplier Elektronček, who was down one spot to third.

The Manager Magazine estimates that the Doberšeks increased their assets by as much as 118% to EUR 274.3m in the most substantial increase on the list of top 100 richest Slovenians since last year. Engineering Dobersek, which they set up in Germany 30 years ago, today employs more than 300 staff, mostly engineers.

Pečečnik's 90% stake in the Elektronček group, which manufactures and rents out gaming machines and has been especially successful in the US, is estimated at EUR 188.4m, up 3% compared to last year. The company's executive director Tomaž Žvipelj, who holds a 10% stake, ranks 35th with EUR 20.5m.

Iza and Samo Login, who have made their fortune with mobile applications, slid one spot to fourth. The value of their company Outfit7, which broke the one billion downloads mark in spring, is estimated to have increased by 16% so that their 55% stake is now valued at EUR 146.8m. Three other major shareholders are also on the top 100 list.

A newcomer to the list is Zoltan Varga, a 39-year-old from Zreče who studied in the US to become a leading manager in the the world's 5th biggest hedge fund manager Och-Ziff Capital Management. Varga owns just over 13% of the fund's shares; at the end of September these were worth EUR 110.1m, which places him 5th on the list.

Retail magnate Mirko Tuš, who had topped the 100 richest list since its first release in 2007 and until 2011, when he was dethroned by Češko, lost one more spot this year to eight, even though the value of his wealth stopped declining. The Manager Magazine increased the estimate by 3% to EUR 73.7m, which is only 13% of what his assets were valued in 2008.

The total assets of the 100 richest Slovenians are estimated at EUR 3.3bn, which is 14% more than a year before but still 17% less than in the pre-crisis year of 2008. Since then more than half of the names have been replaced on the list.
