Europe and Africa US Air Force Commander Visiting Slovenia

The four-star general will also visit the barracks and airbase in Cerklje ob Krki (E) and be presented the capabilities of the Slovenian air force, according to the Defence Ministry.

Gorenc is also the commander of the NATO air force based in the Ramstein Air Base, where he took over in August, and the head of the NATO joint competence centre in Germany's Uedem. He has more than 4,500 flight hours in various combat aircraft.

Gorenc immigrated to the US from Slovenia's Velike Lašče with his brother and parents in 1961 when he was four. They settled in Milwaukee. He was introduced to the military by his older brother Stanley Gorenc, a retired US Air Force general.
