The DL's official membership of ALDE was confirmed at the congress of the third biggest group in the European Parliament in London after an application for membership was already accepted at last November's congress in Dublin.

This makes the DL the only parliamentary party in Slovenia with full ALDE membership, since Zares and the LibDems, which still have each one MEP, failed to make it into the Slovenian parliament at the last general election.

The presently biggest parliamentary party, Positive Slovenia (PS), which was established in 2011 as well, has also been considering joining ALDE, but has not yet made a final decision between ALDE and the Party of European Socialists (PES).
