Slovenia Condemns Violence against Protesters in Ukraine

The ministry expects that the Ukrainian government will guarantee the right to peaceful protest and provide for the safety of the protesters and property in line with its international obligations.
The mass protests, the biggest since 2004 Orange Revolution, were triggered by the government's decision not to sign an Association Agreement with the EU.
On Sunday, security forces used gas bombs against the protesters, who threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at the police. The police said that some 100 officers and 50 protesters had been injured.
Slovenia however intends to promote good relations between the EU and Ukraine because it believes the agreement would have had "positive effects on further democratic and reform processes in Ukraine and on the strengthening of economic cooperation between Ukraine and the EU".
