Ski Resorts Gloomy over Lack of Snow
Only one of the small ski slopes managed to operate this season for a while thanks to some artificial snow produced because water could be supplied from nearby, Šepec said, adding that the weather conditions so far had been disastrous for business.
Among the medium-sized ski slopes in the country, only Kope on the Pohorje operates regularly.
Thanks to its high altitude, Kanin is the only among seven large resorts in Slovenia that has enough snow to operate regularly, however the lifts stand still due to financial problems.
Otherwise, there are 93 registered ski slopes in Slovenia, of which only about 35 actually operate on regular winters.
