50 Years of Golden Fox Celebrated with Exhibition

Slovenia's former top skiers Katja Koren, who won Olympic slalom bronze, and Nataša Bokal, the winner of World Championship silver, were among those who remembered today some of the key Golden Fox moments, which were mostly captured by the photographers of Maribor-based daily Večer.
"We were just discussing how Slovenian skiers would have collected many victories on the Pohorje hill in Maribor hadn't it been for Swiss skier Vreni Schneider," Koren told the press.
Between 1985 and 1995 Schneider bagged seven victories in Maribor, which mostly hosts slalom and giant slalom races, while a number of second place finishes were managed by Slovenian skiers in this period.
Maribor, which has an agreement with the International Ski Federation on hosting the World Cup at least until 2016, had to cancel the races for this year because of the high temperatures.
It should become clear in the coming days whether the races will be taken over by Kranjska Gora or a resort outside of Slovenia.
