Temperatures will hover just above freezing, except along the coast, where rain and highs of seven degrees Celsius are expected.

The snow will be accompanied by strong gusts, which could reach gale-force strength in the west.

The Environment Agency warned that bora gusts could reach speeds of 120 km/h in the Ajdovščina valley, while winds of around 80 km/h are expected on the coast.

Saturday and Sunday are expected to be largely snow-free.
