Bitcoin Accepted by More Than 40 Companies in Slovenia

Bitcoin is used as currency in Slovenia primarily by small e-commerce companies. It is possible for example to pay for IT services or fitness instructions with bitcoins, which are also accepted by some restaurants.

Globally, payment with bitcoins is also spreading in tourism, hospitality sector and rental services because of the simplicity of their use when travelling, Aleksander Kucler of the company Bitcoinpeople has told the STA.

The digital currency, introduced in early 2009, has oscillated significantly lately. Last October one bitcoin was worth US$200, to increase to US$1,200 by the end of November. The price stabilised in the recent weeks at around US$800.
