Slovenia's best skier won in a time of 1 minute, 37.79 seconds, edging the Swiss Marianne Kaufmann-Abderhalden and Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein for her 23rd World Cup victory.

Overall World Cup leader Maria Höfl-Riesch of Germany was fourth.

Maze notched up three podium finishes before Cortina, but it has been a disappointing season overall for the 30-year-old considering she was the dominant female skier last season.

"Sometimes everything comes together...I think it was about time this victory came," Maze told Radio Slovenija after the race.

"It's nice when things work out the way they should."

She is now fourth in the overall World Cup rankings with 709 points, 302 points behind leader Höfl-Riesch. She also climbed to fifth in the downhill standings.
