Managers from five countries discussed future of tourism destinations

The conference was organized by IEDC in cooperation with Terme Tuhelj, under the auspices of The Association of Employers in Croatian hotel Industry.


It was opened by Ivana Kolar, director of Terme Tuhelj. Participants were also welcomed by Ambassador of Republic Slovenia to Republic of Croatia H. E. Vojko Volk, and by Prof. Danica Purg, IEDC, President.

The main speaker at the Conference was Prof. Luiz Moutinho from the Adam Smith Business School, Universityof Glasgow, Scotland. Prof. Moutinho was analysing the latest trends in tourism, world-wideand in the Alpe-Adria Region. He stressed: "Travel in the future will have a greater, more profound meaning - and not just for us, but also for destinations and the people who live there."

Ten general trends in tourism were highlited on the conference: Changing demography, Mega trend Health, Increasing Awareness & Education, Less leisure time, Increasing travel experience, Changing lifestyles, New information technology, Changing transport behaviour, Rising importance of sustainability and Increasing importance on safety and security.
