Substitute Rail Link to Luka Koper Opened
The ice-storm which battered Slovenia over the course of the past few days has severely damaged the rail link between Koper and Ljubljana.
The disruption affected some 175,000 tonnes of cargo or about 4100 carriages, Gašpar Mišič said. Cargo has since been redirected to roads while extra storage capacities at the port have also been put into place.
Luka Koper expects rail traffic via diesel engines to be restored by the Friday. The substitute rail link to Ljubljana via Gorica (W) has also taken some of the load off, but the link's capacity is limited to five trains per day.
