Among the newly-registered unemployed, 1,694 are first job seekers, 2,508 are long-term redundancies and workers from bankrupt companies and 9,145 are workers whose fixed-term contracts have expired, the Employment Service said on Thursday.

On the other hand, data on employment show some positive trends, as a total of 65,054 registered unemployed persons found a job in 2013. A total of 6,207 unemployed found a job in January, which is an improvement year-on-year.

A total of 6,207 persons out of the 8,987 unemployed persons who were struck out from the records in January found a job or registered a business, which is 76.9% more than in December 2013 and 0.2% more than in January 2013.
