Over 1 Million Fly with Adria Airways
With the number of passengers rising and the number of flights dropping by 7% to around 19,500 last year, the airliner's load factor - an indicator showing the occupancy rate of its planes - increased 6% to 71.8%.
Since when the company carried slightly over 1,302,000 passengers when the global economic crisis broke out in 2008, the passenger figure had been steadily falling only to drop below one million in 2012.
Adria has not yet released its 2013 results, but has been trying to break even for years.
After making a loss of EUR 6.8m in the first nine months of 2012, the company made EUR 700,000 in operating profit in the same period last year, according to the last available figures. But media reports have suggested it closed 2013 with a loss of EUR 1m.
Efforts to find a strategic partner for Adria have been ongoing, and the company has also been included on the government priority privatisation list.
