In the interview segment of the hearing, Trop Skaza strongly condemned corruption several times. As regards conflict of interest accusations, she said that she would no longer be involved in her husband's company, which has for instance been doing business with the Ptuj hospital, if she gets appointed.

"I have no aunts or uncles in the background," she said, while announcing she would also resist any attempts at influencing her decisions.

After outlining her main ideas in the presentation, Trop Skaza moreover mentioned the need for more transparency in the issuing of treatment bills, which she believes can be helped with more IT in health care.

She also pointed to the lack of doctors especially on primary level and at the same time to the large number of young doctors registered with the Unemployment Service.

Trop Skaza is moreover concerned about the situation in health centres in the countryside, urging more funding to prevent a collapse.

Commenting on potential competition in compulsory health insurance, she said that having more than one insurer in charge of this would be imprudent for such a small nation, while she also indicated it was time for an overhaul of organisational model of health purse manager ZZZS.

In her presentation, the epidemiologist, who currently heads the Celje branch of the National Public Health Institute where she has worked for over 20 year, said that the present level of health care cannot be preserved without additional funding and announced her short-term goal would be stability.

Her ideas include limiting the list of services covered by compulsory basic insurance to those with high added value.

Trop Skaza said that this means abolishing the state-run supplementary insurance scheme, which is practically compulsory as well, while she is moreover in favour of abandoning the progressive rate system of compulsory insurance in favour of a flat contribution rate.

Trop Skaza is one of three ministerial candidates in a cabinet reshuffle - also including new ministers for economy and for Slovenians abroad - which could already be confirmed in parliament on Thursday.
