Group E into which Slovenia was drawn also includes, Estonia, Lithuania and San Marino. The qualifying round kicks off in September.

"We can be pleased if one can be pleased with a draw at all," Slovenia coach Srečko Katanec told reporters via video conference after the draw.

"Other groups are more difficult in theory...It also suits us better to play England as opposed to Netherlands, Spain or Portugal," he added.

There are eight groups with six teams each in the qualifying and one group with five.

The top two teams in each group and the best third-placed team will qualify for the tournament; other third-placed teams will enter playoffs.

The Euro 2016 will take place between 10 June and 10 July.
