Chief of General Staff, Police Commissioner Visit Kosovo
The trio will visit the 300 Slovenian troops stationed in Kosovo and meet the KFOR commander, Maj-Gen. Salvatore Farina, the Defence Ministry said in a press release.
Božič said in a recent interview with the STA that the military was thinking about withdrawing one company from Kosovo in the face of the EUR 30m funding cut enacted this year.
He said that they will probably also have to "streamline the units serving in missions abroad".
However, Defence Minister Roman Jakič said during his most recent visit to Kosovo in December that the Slovenian contingent would remain unchanged.
Slovenia has been present in Kosovo since 2000. During this time, more than 5,000 Slovenian soldiers have served in Kosovo in rotation.
Currently, there are around 4,900 KFOR troops stationed in the country. Slovenia's contingent is one of the bigger ones.
