"Slovenia has EUR 1.7bn worth of investments in Croatia, which is the most Slovenian FDI in any country," Volk explained.

He moreover touched on the negotiations regarding the sale of Slovenia's biggest retailer Mercator to Croatia's Agrokor: "While these two companies continue focusing on the sale, other retailers focus their efforts into adapting to markets."

Slovenia's recent positive trends in economic indicators are in part due to Croatia's joining the EU and the consecutive abolishment of customs duties and customs control on the border, the ambassador noted.

According to him, the growth of Slovenia's GDP in the last quarter of 2013 is the "first swallow in the coming spring".

Today's seminar on business insurance in Croatia was organised by the business club of Slovenian and Croatian executives and the Slovenian Embassy in the country. More than 50 companies said they would attend it.
