The value of construction work went up by 31.9% on engineering structures, while the value of construction work on buildings increased by 14.7%.

Compared to the January 2013 construction work values, the values jumped by 59.6% and 11.2% for engineering structures and building construction, respectively.

The Statistics Office assumes the bad weather in the same period last year opposed to the exact opposite this year contributed to the uneven statistics.

Regardless of the encouraging statistics, the January values of construction work were still lower than the 2010 average by 23.6%

On the other hand, construction costs for new apartments have been constantly dropping since 2012.

The construction costs in the last quarter of 2013 went down 2.8% compared to the quarter before, which was still 1.1% less than the same period a year before.

Moreover, the cost of construction work on new apartments has dropped by over 6% on a quarter year basis, while it went down by almost 2% on a yearly basis.

In the last quarter of 2013, the costs of construction work on new apartments were the lowest since the first quarter of 2008.
