The installation about space architecture captivated the Culture Ministry, which selects Slovenia's representative at the biennial, with its bold innovative idea.

Ministry official Judita Krivec Dragan told the press on Monday that the winning project beat out its competitors with its visionary and innovative idea.

KSEVT's project covers space architecture, which is something nobody else has done before, Krivec Dragan said and added that the institute secured EUR 85,000 for the realisation of the project.

According to her, the the project will attract international attention with its originality. Moreover, this will be the first time that Slovenia secured a place in one of the two main floors at the biennial.

The project immediately convinced the organisers of the biennial as well as its curator Rem Koolhaas, who wants to present a comprehensive picture of architecture.

The authors of the project, Miha Turšič and Dragan Živadinov of KSEVT, designed the project in three parts.

The focal part is dedicated to Slovenian space visionary Herman Potočnik Noordung (1892-1929), who tackled key problems of living in space as early as 1928 and was thus a pioneer in space architecture, according to Turšič.

A symposium on ontological comprehension of space architecture will make for a second part of the project. According to Živadinov, several philosophers and builders will try to outline the importance of space architecture to humanity and architecture as such.

The third part of the project represents three pieces of Slovenian architecture of the 20th century, which will help organisers encapsulate the evolution of modern-day architecture around the world.

The buildings that will present recent architectural achievements in Slovenia include Jože Plečnik's church in the village of Bogojina, Vladimir Šubic's Nebotičnik (Skyscraper) in Ljubljana and the Trg republike square in Ljubljana designed by team led by Edvard Ravnikar.
