Slovenia has always supported Ukraine's efforts for European integration, which has been facilitated by "the Ukrainian people's clear stance on the importance of European prospects for the country's future as well as their determined fight for freedom, democracy and the rule of law", the ministry said.

Ukraine is a country with a bright European future and can count on Slovenia's support in its development. Moreover, Slovenia will continue to support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as respect for human rights of all its citizens, the press release also said.

Also today, Slovenia expressed support for Ukraine's efforts to join the EU during two-day consultations in Kiev which were attended by Foreign Ministry State Secretary Igor Senčar.

Senčar reiterated that the referendum on Crimea's independence had no legal grounds and condemned all measures carried out by the Crimean authorities and Russia, which he labelled unconstitutional.

Senčar also took part in the reunion of Slovenian honorary consuls to Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia and Moldova, who gathered to share experience in promoting Slovenia in their respective countries.
