Dragonja for Boosting Trade&Investment with Poland

The meeting featured 25 representatives of Slovenian businesses and municipalities, including executives from companies already present in the Polish market, and officials from over 30 Polish companies, according to a press release from the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.

Addressing the forum, Dragonja said the Slovenian government was committed to kick-starting growth, enhancing the competitive power of Slovenian companies, and changing the economy's structure to adjust it to the demands of global economy.

He listed measures for green development policy, investment in infrastructure projects and stepping up the use of available EU funding.

During his trip to Poland, the minister would like to get briefed on key elements of the country's economic policy which would serve as a model to draft new measures to boost economic activity in Slovenia.

"This will help strengthen bilateral economic cooperation in many fields such as energy and renewable sources of energy, construction, automotive industry, tourism etc., " Dragonja was cited as saying in the release.

He expressed Slovenia's interest in the arrival of foreign investors and strategic partners, also through planned privatisations.

He moreover noted that a number of Slovenian companies with acclaimed brands, technological solutions and patents were willing to cooperate, while he also mentioned the potential for Polish and Slovenian businesses to make joint forays into third markets.

Dragonja also met his counterpart Janusz Piechocinski and Infrastructure and Development Minister Elzbieta Bienkowska, briefing them on Slovenian's model of incentives for companies.

He is due to meet Treasury Ministry Under-Secretary Rafal Baniaki on Friday.

As part of the visit, 27 Slovenian tourism companies, organisations and destinations presented their offerings to Polish tour operators, agents and reporters in a workshop organised by the SPIRIT agency, the Slovenian Embassy in Warsaw and flag carrier Adria Airways.
