Slovenians Biggest Buyers of Real Estate in Croatia

Foreigners bought 18% of all pieces of real estate sold in Croatia in 2013, a vast majority of them in the areas in and around the coastal cities of Dubrovnik, Split and Rijeka and in the Croatian Istria. The average price for a square meter was EUR 2,000.

The total value of real estate in Croatia sold to foreigners last year stood at more than EUR 10m, which is 50% more than in 2012.

Between 2010 and 2012, Slovenian citizens bought a total of 5,673 pieces of real estate in Croatia or 41% of the total number of transactions with foreigners. They were followed by Germans with 1,757 or 13%.

According to unofficial information, Slovenians own more than 110,000 pieces of real estate in Croatia, mostly flats and holiday homes on the Adriatic coast.
