Poll: SDS in Lead for General Election, NSi+SLS for EU Vote

The SDS polled at 21.3%, followed by the coalition Social Democrats (SD) at 20.9% and the ruling Positive Slovenia (PS) at 7.2%, according to the poll, conducted by Episcenter over the phone between 8 and 16 April.

Asked which party they would vote for were the general election held on Sunday, 6% opted for the NSi and 5% for the SLS. The coalition Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) garnered 4.3%, the new Solidarity party 3.6% and TRS, another non-parliamentary party, 2.6%.

While 7.4% were undecided, 6.2% would not answer the question. Out of 1,005 those questioned, 49% said they would definitely turn out to vote and 13% said they were likely to cast their vote. Questions about party preferences were only put to the 629 who said they were sure or likely to turn out.

Only 31% of those questioned said they supported the government, which is only half of the proportion of those who approved of the government at the start of its term over a year ago.

Quizzed about the elections to the European Parliament, most respondents backed the NSi+NSi, followed by the SDS and the list of the former president of the Court of Audit Igor Ĺ oltes. The PS is fourth, followed by DeSUS, MEP Jelko Kacin, and the SD.
