The surprise loss leaves Slovenia with little room for error in the remaining four matches of the round-robin tournament if it wants to finish among the top two teams who will advance to the elite group of world ice hockey.

Slovenia will next play the hosts, South Korea, on Monday. Matches against Hungary, Ukraine and Austria will follow until Saturday.
