Ema Kugler's Latest Film Wins Award at Houston's WorldFest

According to Kugler, the film is dealing with the idea that the "biggest illusion of a human that he or she is free".

Echoes of Time, produced by the Zank studio and starring two Slovenian acclaimed actors Marko Mandić and Nataša Matjašec Rošker, also explores the personal constraint divided among the Church, government and military, and the issue of the roles men and women are supposed to play.

Kugler started her versatile career in the mid-1980s. She has since been active in directing, screenwriting, scenic design, constumography, editing and as well as in staging performances and installations.

She has put film and video in the focus of her work, having made several films, including Hydra (1993), Menhir (1999), Homo erectus (2000), Phantom (2003), Le Grand Macabre (2005) and For the End of Time (2009).

This year's WorldFest festival in Houston took place between 4 and 13 April. It was founded in 1961 under the name Cinema Arts, and is considered the third-biggest competitive film festival in the US, after San Francisco and New York.
