The statement comes after Bratušek lost the contest for the leadership of the Positive Slovenia (PS) to Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković. She is yet to comment on the outcome or announce further moves.

Janković's return to the helm of the party he founded two and a half years ago is likely to result in a collapse of the ruling coalition followed by an early election.

All coalition partners said today they no longer saw themselves in government, while opposition parties also chimed in with calls for an early election.
