EUR 28M Eurojackpot Goes to Slovenia
The winner will keep EUR 23.97m, while the rest is expected to go the Žalec municipality.
Žalec Mayor Janko Kos told the STA that it is not clear whether the winner is actually a resident of the municipality or he or she only purchased the jackpot ticket there.
He said that the tax amounting to almost EUR 4m, which will be included in the municipal budget, will be spent wisely. "The money will be intended for welfare, education and some other things," Kos added.
The prize, the fifth largest in the two-year history of Eurojackpot which is played in 14 countries, is the biggest in Slovenian history, coming on top of a EUR 21m jackpot last December won by a Slovenian from Grosuplje.
